If you have started to upgrade the RAM on your Netbook to 2GB then you've probably looked around the forum and found some reviews and read that you started, you now more confused than when.
You may have seen terms such as CL, 667 or 800 MHz non-ECC and you wonder what kind of memory you need. Now, all these figures are important, and only certain types are compatible with your netbook. Best-selling and top rated> Netbook 2GB memory key is the key, so I will address certain brand, but this goes for all brands.
The first thing you should know is that most modern netbooks (good 95% of them, including Asus, Acer, etc.), use the Atom processor, a front-side bus of 667 MHz (for the N280, has the 'N270 is 533MHz). Here the memory of the descent to travel to the processor to use it. This tells us that even when the memory at 800MHz, is listeddoes not help anything to use, because to put the computer to do a 667 (or 533) MHz, and on some computers I do not like doing this underclock.
Another important thing to ensure that the RAM you're looking for is non-ECC, and of course 200-pin SO-DIMM. This essentially means that only fits your laptop or netbook.
The third thing we need is to look at the latency of CL or CS. It is, in essence, can control the speed of the RAM itself, or the delay time. The lower the csLatency number, the better. There are two types of success of Crucial RAM, you'll probably see when you look up and one is a 800MHz CL = 6, while the fifth one with a 667 MHz CL =
Their prices are only a few dollars and most people would think apart from the 800 MHz is faster, but really, after the computer clocks, is below 667 then the second fastest because it has a smaller latency cs. That is what they are gone, and I had problems, and Ia 50% improvement in speed and applications.
Now that you know to get the type of RAM here for instructions on how to install it.
Step 1: Get the right RAM. Igot Crucial 2GB 667MHz stick for $ 30 at Amazon.
Step 2: Turn off your computer and remove the battery.
Step 3: Remove access door to the shop (I had a picture with a stick of RAM at the door).
Step 4: Press the two metal brackets removed from the Memory Stick
This would remove the Memory Stick on Pop-Up:
Step 5:Remove the key from 1 GB and 2 GB of RAM to replace it with sticks. Make sure the pins (it is cut in one direction). The Crucial sticker on the bottom.
Step 6: Push-RAM Click to metal clip, cover, reinsert the battery and the computer to start. If you use XP, then it will automatically recognize the RAM and no further action required.
Step 7: Once the computer starts to hit safely (Windows key + Pause) to the Properties box and set systemthat the new memory is recognized.
If you're ready, if not, you need to restart, while pressing the F8 key to enter the BIOS, RAM, and then select the new menu to recognize the computer. Enjoy.
